Mental Performance Coaching for Cricketers in New Zealand
Online coaching to help cricketers manage pressure, trust their game and perform more freely in matches

Sessions are arranged personally after booking around the player’s New Zealand local time, school, tertiary study, work, training, travel and match commitments 🇳🇿
When your net form doesn’t show up in matches
A cricketer can look confident and composed in the nets, then find that matches feel very different.
Pressure can change the way they think, make decisions and respond to mistakes. Instead of trusting the work they have done, they may become cautious, distracted or too focused on the outcome — particularly when trials, selection or representative opportunities feel important.
Common signs include:
- Thinking too much about technique during play
- Losing confidence after one mistake
- Feeling tense before trials, selection or important matches
- Struggling to make clear decisions under pressure
- Showing more freedom in nets than in competition
For young cricketers, this can also be difficult for parents to watch — especially when they know how much time, travel and commitment has gone into school, club and representative cricket.
The programme helps players understand what changes under pressure and develop practical ways to trust their game and access their ability more consistently in matches.
Mental performance coaching shaped around cricket
Cricket rarely unfolds exactly as expected. Conditions change, momentum shifts and a player may need to adjust quickly to a new role or match situation.
For players moving between school, club and representative cricket, those demands can vary from one week to the next. The challenge is to remain mentally ready, make clear decisions and keep competing without becoming consumed by the score, selection or the last mistake.
Our coaching helps players:
- Prepare for matches with a clear and settled approach
- Stay engaged during periods when they are not directly involved
- Reset quickly when a mistake or setback interrupts their rhythm
- Make confident decisions without overanalysing every moment
- Adapt to different conditions, roles and match situations
- Carry the freedom they show in the nets into competition
The coaching is built around the player’s own experiences, pressures and cricket environment.
It is not technical analysis.
It is not motivational talk.
It is practical support for thinking and competing more effectively in matches.

The Play To Your Potential Programme
A focused online programme that gives the player time to understand what is affecting their match performance, put practical changes into action and strengthen them over three personalised sessions.
Session 1 – Build a clear starting point
The first session looks at what the player is experiencing in matches, where their confidence and decision-making are being affected, and what already works well for them. From this, we create a personalised performance plan with clear priorities.
Sessions 2 & 3 – Put the plan into practice
The next two sessions focus on applying the plan in training and competition. We discuss what the player has noticed, strengthen the strategies that are helping and adjust anything that needs to work better for their role and situation.
Each session lasts approximately 30 minutes. The programme is delivered online over around three weeks, with practical actions between sessions and appointments arranged around the player’s New Zealand local time and cricket commitments.
Three sessions. One personalised plan. Better performance under pressure.
