PLAYER MENTORING FOR CRICKETERS
Helping players think clearly, prepare effectively and perform consistently under pressure
Many cricketers work hard on their game. They spend time in the nets, receive good technical coaching, and feel well prepared going into matches.
Yet when the game starts to matter, things can feel different.
Decisions feel rushed or hesitant. Attention drifts. Pressure builds. Technique that felt natural in practice suddenly feels forced. Performances become inconsistent, even though the work going in hasn’t changed.
This isn’t a lack of effort or ability. And it isn’t often a technical issue.
Cricket places constant demands on a player’s thinking — before a ball is bowled, between deliveries, and when momentum shifts. Without clear ways to manage those moments, it’s easy for good preparation to unravel under pressure.
Player mentoring exists to address that gap: not by changing how much you train, but by supporting how you think, prepare, and respond when it matters most.
WHAT PLAYER MENTORING FOCUSES ON
Player mentoring is not about motivation or quick fixes. It’s about helping cricketers develop clearer ways of thinking and working that hold up in real performance environments.
Sessions focus on how players:
- Prepare for training and matches, so they arrive with clarity rather than uncertainty
- Make decisions under pressure, including when to commit, adapt, or reset
- Manage attention during long innings or spells, changing conditions, and momentum shifts
- Develop routines that support consistency before, during, and after performances
- Reflect and adapt between games, turning experiences into learning rather than noise

The emphasis is always on what transfers. Ideas are explored in the context of the player’s cricket — their role, environment, level, and current challenges — rather than applied as generic techniques.
Over time, this work helps players build a more reliable link between preparation, thinking, and performance when it matters.
HOW ONE-TO-ONE MENTORING WORKS
One-to-one mentoring is delivered through structured online sessions, shaped around the individual rather than a fixed programme.
Each session provides space to step back from training and competition, explore what’s currently happening in your game, and work through it in a clear and practical way.
Sessions typically involve:
- Talking through recent performances, training blocks, or upcoming challenges
- Exploring how you’re thinking and responding in key moments
- Identifying practical adjustments to preparation, routines, or decision-making
- Agreeing simple actions to apply in training or competition
Sessions are conversational rather than scripted, and focused on what’s most relevant at that point in time. The emphasis is always on ideas that can be tested and applied, not abstract theory.
All mentoring is delivered online, allowing sessions to fit around training schedules, school, work, and competition. Support evolves as your needs change, rather than following a fixed pathway.
WHO WE MENTOR
We work with players who are curious about their own game and open to reflecting on their experiences.
That reflection might include what’s working, what feels challenging, and how they respond under pressure — both in training and in matches.
Players work with Cricket Mind Online at different ages and stages. Some are building strong habits early in their development, while others are looking to perform more consistently in demanding environments.
What they share is a willingness to engage with the mental side of the game and apply ideas thoughtfully in practice and competition, rather than relying on simple instructions alone.

MENTORING PLANS
Player mentoring begins with an initial consultation. This provides space to understand the player’s background, current challenges, and what they would like support with, before deciding on the most appropriate way to move forward.
From there, players can choose from a small number of structured mentoring plans. These differ in length and level of ongoing support, but all are built around one-to-one sessions and practical application between meetings.
Plans are designed to:
- Provide continuity rather than one-off conversations
- Allow ideas to be tested and refined over time
- Support learning across training and competition
There is no fixed pathway that players must follow. Some choose to begin with an initial consultation before deciding on ongoing support, while others prefer to commit to a mentoring plan from the outset.
All plans include an initial consultation as part of the process, ensuring that support is appropriate and well-aligned from the start.
