Coming soon
Cricket has never been short of opinions.
What it’s often short of is space — space to slow things down, to think clearly, and to talk honestly about what’s really going on beneath performance.
That’s where The Cricket Mind Podcast comes in.
This new show is built around one simple idea:
to explore the mental side of cricket in a way that’s real, enjoyable, and genuinely useful — whether you’re a junior player, a club cricketer, a parent, or a coach working in the game.
Not soundbites.
Not slogans.
Just thoughtful conversation about how cricket actually feels, and how mindset really shows up when it matters.
Why a podcast?
Cricket is a game played over time.
And so are most of its biggest challenges.
Confidence doesn’t disappear in one moment.
Pressure doesn’t arrive neatly labelled.
Decision-making rarely breaks down because of one poor thought.
Instead, these things tend to build — quietly — across training sessions, long spells in the field, selection conversations, and moments where the game asks something slightly different of you than you expected.
The podcast gives us the room to explore those moments properly.
Not to offer quick fixes or five-step frameworks, but to understand:
- How players think under pressure
- How habits form and shape performance
- How preparation influences freedom
- How mindset interacts with technique, decision-making, and enjoyment
Who it’s for
The Cricket Mind Podcast is for anyone involved in the game who’s curious about how performance really works.
That includes:
- Players trying to make sense of inconsistency
- Parents supporting young cricketers through challenging phases
- Coaches who want to better understand the thinking behind behaviour
- Anyone who’s felt that cricket is as much a mental test as a technical one
The conversations aren’t level-specific.
They’re experience-led.
Because the mental demands of the game don’t disappear as standards rise — they usually just change shape.
The hosts
The podcast is hosted by Nathan Wood and Briony Brock, and the conversations reflect the same approach that underpins Cricket Mind Online more broadly.
Nathan is a cricket coach who used to play the game.
Briony is a mindset coach who still does.
That balance matters.
It keeps the discussions grounded in the realities of:
- Training and preparation
- Form and confidence
- Selection and expectation
- Pressure, mistakes, and recovery
Rather than theory for theory’s sake.
What the podcast will explore
Across episodes, you’ll hear open, honest conversations about challenges cricketers recognise immediately, including:
- Handling nerves before and during games
- Responding to mistakes without spiralling
- Staying present when pressure ramps up rather than spikes
- Making clearer decisions when energy drops
- Understanding the habits that shape performance over time
There’s no jargon.
No judgement.
And no assumption that everyone’s experience of the game is the same.
The aim is simple: to offer insights you can take straight back into your own cricket.

Why this podcast exists
Cricket doesn’t just test technique.
It tests how people think when plans unravel.
How they respond when confidence dips.
How they behave when pressure builds quietly over time, rather than arriving all at once.
Those moments rarely show up in highlight clips or post-match interviews. But they shape performance far more than most people realise.
The Cricket Mind Podcast exists to create space for those conversations.
Not to provide neat answers or quick fixes — but to explore how mindset, preparation, decision-making, and habits actually show up in real cricket environments. Across different roles, levels, and experiences of the game.
If it helps you reflect a little more clearly, prepare a little more deliberately, or understand your own responses under pressure a little better, then it’s doing its job.
