Additional one-to-one support alongside national programmes
Cricket Mind Online is supporting players involved in programmes delivered by Cricket Wales, as they navigate the demands of developing cricket.
As the national governing body for cricket in Wales, Cricket Wales holds responsibility for the long-term health of the game — from participation and clubs through to performance pathways and representative cricket. Its role is wide-ranging, focused on creating environments where players can progress while remaining connected to the values and culture of Welsh cricket.
Our role sits alongside this system, offering individual performance support to players as expectations, competition and responsibility increase.
Development brings new challenges
As players move into national and regional programmes, the experience of cricket changes.
Training environments become more intense, selection processes more visible, and performances more closely scrutinised. Players are often managing these demands alongside education, travel, and shifting roles within teams. For many, this is the first time cricket begins to feel evaluative rather than exploratory.
Cricket Mind Online supports players with the mental and behavioural side of this transition. The focus is on helping players understand what they are experiencing, respond more effectively to pressure, and develop habits that support performance over time.
This support is designed to complement existing coaching and programme structures, not to replace them.
How one-to-one support fits the system
Support is delivered through individual online sessions, allowing players to engage around their existing Cricket Wales commitments.
Sessions commonly explore areas such as:
- Managing expectation and self-pressure
- Staying composed in selection and competitive environments
- Responding constructively to mistakes and setbacks
- Maintaining confidence through transition points
- Building preparation and competition routines
The intention is to give players space to reflect, make sense of their experiences, and take greater ownership of how they prepare and perform.
A referral offer for Cricket Wales players
As part of this support, players involved in the Cricket Wales performance pathway are eligible for a 10% referral promotion on their first Cricket Mind Online booking.
This applies to either an initial consultation followed by a coaching plan, or a single one-to-one session.
The offer is intended to make it easier for players and families to explore whether this type of support is right for them.
Who this support is for
This support may be particularly relevant for players who are:
- Involved in national or regional Cricket Wales programmes
- Adjusting to higher expectations and competitive standards
- Managing pressure around performance or selection
- Seeking individual support outside formal training environments
It can support both younger players developing within the system and older players navigating key transition points.
